1. Karen Carpenter (Carpenters) I especially like This Masquerade and Superstar. Saw her and Richard in concert in El Paso, Texas. 2. Marilyn McCoo (Fifth Dimension) Saw them in concert in El Paso too. Especially like Last Night (I Didn't Get to Sleep at All) and One Less Bell to Answer.
3. Taylor Dayne I'll Be Your Shelter - this song gave me a lot of comfort during a tough time in my life. 4. Gladys Knight (and the Pips) Midnight Train to Georgia is her best song, I think. I Heard it Through the Grapevine is the best version of this particular song.
I grew up in El Paso, Texas listening to rock and roll on the radio. The two most prominent DJs in the 1960's were Steve Crosno and Sonny Melendrez. I was really into the music like everybody else. It was a great time to be alive.
